Project Details
Under the management of AfricInvest, a pan-African investment platform active across private equity, venture capital, and private debt, in collaboration with the Health Finance Coalition (HFC), a group of leading global health donors, development financial institutions, and technical partners aiming to scale blended finance solutions for the healthcare sector, THF exceeded its initial target, raising $111 million through investments from commercial, public, and private philanthropic organizations.
Anticipated Impact
THF is strategically designed to drive meaningful change in healthcare access and outcomes across Africa. The Fund focuses on three key impact objectives:
- Increase access to quality healthcare by making essential medical services more affordable and available, particularly for underserved communities.
- Ensure better value for money by improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of healthcare solutions, maximizing impact per dollar spent.
- Improve health outcomes by reducing disease rates, lowering mortality, and preventing avoidable illnesses and disabilities.
The Fund has designed an innovative impact-linked remuneration model that directly aligns financial incentives with measurable healthcare outcomes. By embedding accountability and tying compensation to both financial performance and impact achievements, THF drives meaningful and measurable improvements in Africa’s healthcare sector. This approach accelerates the modernization of healthcare systems by leveraging innovative financing, capacity-building, and technology, ensuring long-term, transformative change.
Support Required
The Fund has already secured support from Alliance memberProparco, along with other investors. While THF is now closed to new investors, contributions through technical assistance or guarantee support remain welcome, helping to scale impact-driven healthcare investments and expand access to essential quality services.
